NED is an independent political association that strives to promote integrity, efficiency and effectiveness in government and to foster mutual respect and cooperation between all racial, ethnic and religious groups within our society. The “New Era Democrats” believe that government derives its power from the governed and operates best through the open and active participation of an informed citizenry. NED believes that “government of, for and by the people” is not a mere slogan, but rather the foundation of the great democracy in which we live.

        NED’s primary goal is to develop and promote candidates who are honest, capable leaders who espouse positions on issues that are consistent with the philosophy and objectives of our organization, irrespective of that candidate’s political party affiliation. NED has the “people power” to provide the commitment and sophisticated campaign skills to elect worthy candidates. Once elected, our organization continues working with these representatives to further NED’s goals and objectives.

        Membership in our organization is open to all who share our ideals, regardless of political party association. NED is determined to reach out across the boundaries and divisions of party lines to create a fusion group that supports the principles of “Justice, Equality and Opportunity for the Whole Human Family.”

        NED is a “family” of loyal, genuine friends and associates who embrace all types of participants in its activities, regardless of race, creed, national origin, age, sex or sexual preference. Our organization endeavors to attract persons of integrity who place the interests of their communities and of society above considerations of personal gain.

        NED looks forward to a future when people are more knowledgeable of the realities that effect their lives and eager to participate in community and government affairs. To this end, NED strives for the education of the electorate and the inclusion of everyone in the political process by stimulatingindependent and constructive thinking. A hallmark of our organization is that every member has the ability to speak freely, to share ideas, beliefs and thoughts with others. Stated simply, we believe that NED is the way “politics ought to be.” Anyone who comes into contact with its members soon realizes that a single individual “truly can make a difference!”
